PSERN Stakeholder Overview

The Puget Sound Emergency Radio Network (PSERN) is maintained and managed by the PSERN Operator for use by two stakeholder groups:
  • Radio Users: 9-1-1 dispatch centers and more than 100 agencies throughout King County use PSERN. Agencies include public safety (fire, police), K-12 public schools, hospitals, and city or county departments with emergency management responsibilities, such as parks, public works, and roads departments. Radios are used for daily public safety communications and emergency communications by other agencies.

  • Properties with Public Safety DAS: Over 700 properties with public safety Distributed Antenna System (DAS) in King County use PSERN. The DAS rebroadcast PSERN radio signals within their properties to support first responders because the size, building materials, design elements, or other aspects of a property could impact emergency radio communications.
